Lost in blue, survival kids DS review

(wiki sourced summery)

"two young teenagers, Keith and Skye, struggle for survival in a deserted island. The player will have to learn to use the island's natural resources to create a make-shift home away from home"

Okay, to start of, the controls of lost in blue is about as intuitive as whacking yourself over the head with a brick....let's get that straight, so this is a game for challenged, bored people (Sims fans rejoice)
That said, I kinda enjoyed the game.... the graphics were okay, the effects of the food were semi thought out, even if cooking was as difficult as quantum physics. For cereal. Anyhow!

Gameplay/interface

The realism of the stats, stomach, water and stamina were freaking stupid. you DO NOT DIE from 5 hours sleep, only a baked potato, a few guavas and a glass of water in one day...these people must have some serious metabolic problems, no wonder they need to get off the island to get MEDICAL ATTENTION.
Just about all the DS's thingos were used though, the mic, touch screen, d-pad, L+R keys for minigames. I think the mini games ask for too much precision in too little time for casual gamers however. Whenever I went to a forum on the game I was bombarded with LYK LYK! OMFGZOMGAFKLMAOBBQ! I CNT LYK, DO DA FIRE/MINIGAME!!!! LYK! HELP!
Yes, at the start of the game, you are told to make a fire, and the timing between button pushing is a lil pedantic, but not impossible. The mini game/building/cooking asks for too much from no explaining. you need to LIFT the stylus after finishing the pics. and not all of us are megtastic readers *flicks hair and giggles*
Skye was the letdown of the story progression. she's TOTALLY useless. you have to literally DRAG her everywhere. you have to tell her to eat, sleep and force her to drink. Even I, am not that blind and prissy *flicks hair*

the impossibility of these kid's metabolic rate makes plot progression hard, most time being taken gathering seaweed and twigs (erggggggh)

NOT RECOMMENDED TO ILLITERATE CASUAL GAMERS 3/10

Music

Not much to say, the usual repetitive mood sensitive blabber. no more or less.

5/10

Graphics

pretty nice! totally 3D environment that varies considerably. The loading time is rawking (using my TTDS.....ummmm, really can't say much for other, aren't TTDS's slower...? comment me if you know)

The 2D top screen and talk person display is pretty good. the 2D overhead is rather useful.

Sooooo, my verdict is, OK graphics utilised well. 7.5/10

Plot

Not much to say...you live/die, and try escape.

not much happens between Skye/Keith. (but you know behind the E rating they're humping like dogs) haha

Anyway, the first steps in the plot are finding/making basic survival tools and opening exploration. Then you see traces of human life (Zomg!)

You later find out their baddies and cannot go near them on fear on GAME OVER.

after that it REALLLLLLLLLLY speeds up, your escape!!!!!!

method one- run into the baddies hideout and take the flare gun then use Skye's raft (easiest)

method two- MUST HAVE UNIFORM AND SLEEPY MUSHROOMS spy on the boss of day time up on rafter and he will say container [number here] will be shipped in [day here].

meet the squad leader (or foreman...I forget) on way to tend his taters then feed him a sleeping shroom. take warehouse key, shove you and Skye in the box.....the waiting game begins!

method three: the transmitter. again, spy on boss around midnight, he'll say never call 99.12 spy at day, he'll say he's meeting someone at [day here] sneak an and dial away! I (you don't need to drag the stupid wretch for this) or tune to frequency 6.75 you can contact the Ocean Disaster Rescue Team. When asked what island you two love birds are on, choose the first answer (Kauia) and a rescue boat will appear up to four days later.

method four: the boat. Okay, drug the foreman/squad leader. I forgot, sowwy. take the ship key, and find fuel in same place as flare/uniform, grab the tramp and run to the boat. Goodo.

Plot is nothing but waiting, living and repetition 4/10

Way too clumsy, time consuming and lack of depth makes this out of reach for most gamers grasp.

Overall, 5.1 worth a try if you think you can handle it. Fun as bunnies to yell abuse at Skye, actual gameplay...I felt obligated to finish. not compelled

If you want the rom with or without the action replay cheats, (I used the cheats for Skye mode), gimme a yell
